Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov affirmed that his country is still a reliable supplier of hydrocarbons in the world despite the US administration's attempts to distort his country's image.

Novosti news agency quoted Antonov as saying today, during an interview with Rossiya 24 channel, that the problems with fuel supplies from Russia started with buyers due to US sanctions on Russia, not Moscow's business, expressing his country's readiness to sell high-quality resources at an appropriate price to all who need them.

Antonov criticized Europe's surrender to Washington's demands by betting on expensive liquefied natural gas, while the "North Stream 2" pipeline would have solved all their problems in the field of energy, but the lack of diplomatic will prevented that.

America and the European Union imposed unfair economic sanctions on Russia against the backdrop of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, and these measures led to a rise in oil, gas and food prices in the world.

On the other hand, the Russian Embassy in Washington called on the White House and the US State Department to issue visas to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his accompanying delegation to attend the General Assembly meetings in New York next month without hindrance.

Antonov said that his country's embassy in Washington had submitted to the White House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a request to fulfill the obligations of the country on whose territory the United Nations headquarters is located and to immediately issue visas to Minister Lavrov and all members of the delegation accompanying him, noting that his country would continue to press for the entry of all Russian representatives participating in the war. The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly was unimpeded.

The United Nations confirmed earlier today that its Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is in extensive contact with Moscow and Washington to issue visas to the Russian delegation to attend the General Assembly meetings in New York next month.
