In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the office of Minister for Family Affairs Paus was on fire.

In addition, NSU daubs were discovered.

Berlin - State security is investigating an arson attack on the office of Family Minister Lisa Paus.

He is responsible for politically motivated acts.

Around 12:30 a.m., an employee of the Green politician noticed a burning wooden bench in front of the building.

The flames had already attacked the wooden window frames of the shop window, according to the police report.

"Paint daubs" were also noticed near the office.

There were no injuries.

Arson and NSU doodles at Paus office: "The shock is deep"

Paus made the arson public on Wednesday (August 17).

"The shock runs deep, but we won't let ourselves be intimidated," wrote the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth on Twitter.

In a joint press release with the Greens in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Paus writes of “considerable property damage of an as yet unknown amount”.

The Berlin police are investigating on suspicion of serious arson and damage to property.

The authorities said that the abbreviation NSU had been written on a construction site safeguard on the house.

The police are investigating whether the graffiti is new, whether it is connected to the arson attack and whether the perpetrator is from the right-wing extremist spectrum.

NSU is the abbreviation for the terrorist group "National Socialist Underground", which murdered eight small business owners of Turkish origin and one small business owner of Greek origin, as well as a German policewoman.

Arson attack on Family Minister Paus: "Attack on the democratic system"

Don't let yourself be intimidated, according to the statement by the Green politician.

"The act goes beyond party lines and should be condemned as an attack on our democratic system." Former Green Party leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt wrote on Twitter: "That's terrible, dear Lisa!

Thank god nothing happened to anyone.”

Paus has been Federal Minister for Family Affairs since April.

The previously largely unknown MP from North Rhine-Westphalia succeeded party colleague Anne Spiegel, who had resigned due to misconduct in the flood disaster.
