With melodies and chants gathered in western and southern Syria, the first traditional Syrian song festival led by Maestro Nazih Asaad concluded its third and final day at Al-Azm Palace in Damascus, announcing its first step on the path of reviving the ancient Syrian artistic heritage and presenting it to the new generation in the best way.

The presence of young voices had a beautiful impact on the audience's hearing in presenting a group of coastal, Golan and Damascene heritage songs, as well as the heritage of the Syrian island of Mardali, Syriac and Assyrian.

The Syrian Heritage Music Ensemble, led by Maestro Asaad, began the evening with the famous sailor’s song “Ali Mouj El Bahr” with the voice of the singer Yara Ibrahim. Necessary to introduce the true coastal artistic heritage, which was wronged by concealing and distorting its ancient features after the spread of the contemporary mountain folklore.

Singer Lana Habrasu, presenter of Damascus Heritage, indicated the importance of holding this type of festival on a continuous basis to revive the Syrian lyrical heritage and its spread in the minds and hearts of the new generation, noting that her paragraph included three songs from the Damascene heritage, which are “Ya Tira, my bird, on its huddle, and oh, sweet.”

Singer Hovik Karbo concluded the ceremony by performing a number of songs of the Mardali, Syriac and Assyrian heritage, which are “Hawa Lahab Aleik and my neighbors Hala Hala”, which belongs to the heritage of Qamishli, and the Syriac song “Horo Daholma” by the late artist Fouad Esber.

Karbo saw that the festival is an opportunity to exchange cultures within the Syrian geography and get to know them more closely, as they all pour into the crucible of the Syrian heritage.

Over the course of three days, the first Syrian Heritage Song Festival, which came under the supervision of Idris Murad, presented a group of songs from all Syrian governorates.
