Skaters and scooter riders from Wolfratshausen thanked the donors for the new floor covering of the Waldram skate park in their own way - with a skate contest.

Waldram – There was a lot going on on Saturday on the halfpipes and ramps next to the B11 entrance.

After a two-year forced break due to corona, the Roll Active Initiative (RAI) of the Children and Youth Promotion Association (KJFV) organized another skate contest and also invited donors who had made the extensive soil rehabilitation of the area possible a year ago.

As reported, the cracked and bumpy asphalt had to be renewed to minimize the risk of injury.

The construction project was financed with the help of a crowdfunding campaign in which private individuals and companies took part.

Their names are on a donation board that Deputy Mayor Günther Eibl unveiled on Saturday afternoon together with the two RAI chairmen Maximilian Becker and Jürgen Schuster.

"Unfortunately, not all 144 sponsors fit on the board," regretted the deputy mayor.

The list of names was initially an eye-catcher under the entrance sign, which was also inaugurated.

Eibl paid tribute to RAI's commitment and the sometimes daring tricks shown by the 30 or so participants in the skate contest.

"I wouldn't dare to do that, I would quickly be in the hospital." Eibl saw the fact that skating has been an Olympic discipline since 2021 as proof of the increased popularity of the former fringe sport.

After the Corona break: Finally skateboarding with an audience again

"We definitely wanted to hold the competition after a two-year break," emphasized Jürgen Schuster.

The RAI Vice pointed out that the association, which was founded 15 years ago, now has around 40 members.

The feeling of togetherness is also promoted by joint excursions.

On Saturday, children of primary school age showed remarkable tricks and collected prizes with a total value of 500 euros.

They received applause from the approximately 100 visitors who visited the site in the afternoons and evenings.

"People came from Tölz, Munich and the surrounding area," reported Schuster.

The RAI members offered him grilled meat, fruit and chilled drinks.

In addition, hip-hop beats boomed out of the speakers.
