Essonne: 18 months in prison for a series of burglaries among the elderly

This Wednesday evening, Kenjie, 20, was sentenced to 18 months in prison with continued detention by the Évry-Courcouronnes criminal court for a series of five burglaries and two concealment committed between 2019 and 2021 in Essonne.

He was acquitted with the benefit of the doubt for two other burglaries.

His accomplices could not be identified, but the band operated at night in pavilions whose occupants were present to steal jewelry, among other things.

The victims, elderly people, sometimes came face to face with the burglars.

Faced with the defendant's denials, the deputy prosecutor worried about his position.

Two victims threatened with a handgun

On May 12, 2020, in Arpajon, an 86-year-old lady was awakened in the middle of the night by a noise and came face to face with two hooded and gloved men.

The latter tell her not to be afraid and feel her, then continue to search the house quietly.

Jewelry, 600 euros and a bank card are stolen.

The latter will be used a little later to withdraw 500 euros.

On the video of the vending machine, the investigators identify Kenjie… who does not recognize himself in the photos.

On November 15, 2020 around 10 p.m., a couple, aged 84 and 75, was disturbed by noise in a bedroom of their house in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon.

They find themselves confronted by a man who threatens them with a handgun and demands to know where the jewels are.

Another burglar is present.

They snatch a gold necklace from the victim's neck and seize other jewels before fleeing.

The criminals forced open a French window where DNA was found, which would later match Kenjie's.

The last fact attributed to the defendant dates back to March 31, 2021, again in Leuville-sur-Orge.

Weapons, ammunition and a car are stolen from a garage.

This time again the DNA will be found on the window through which the defendant entered, who again denies.

"It's stuff we have on us," Kenjie hesitates.
