Fürstenfeldbruck – towels and water bottles are ready at the finish.
The sun burns from the sky.
At an average speed of around 40 kilometers per hour, the headwind may not cool you down much.
According to the weather service, it is the hottest day in August.
But one thing is certain,
the atmosphere around Fürstenfeldbruck Monastery is excellent.
The city is the venue for the men's and women's individual time trials of the 2022 European Road Championships.
The route of
around 24 kilometers
is not that easy to master.
Right at the beginning, a topographical difficulty awaits racing cyclists - the Engelsberg.
It continues towards Schöngeising, Landsberied and Jesenwang back to Fürstenfeldbruck.
On Wednesday, August 17, shortly after 2 p.m., more and more people are showing up on a large screen right at the finish line on Fürstenfelder Strasse.
Because the two German drivers, the two Lisas,
Lisa Brennauer
and
Lisa Klei
n, have started.
Every rider who makes it to the finish is loudly cheered on and duly greeted.
The heat doesn't seem to bother the audience either.
Many have come from all parts of Munich or even from further afield to be part of the spectacle around Fürstenfeldbruck.
Because not only in the start and finish area many fans have gathered.
Everywhere along the route, people enthusiastically cheer on the drivers - some directly from their own front yard.
The flags are waving, there is cheering and clapping.
Cycling fans get their money's worth.
The German Lisa Klein is properly cheered on by the audience on the home stretch.

With a time of 30:59.90 minutes it was gold for her.
The two Lisas were able to achieve a respectable twelfth and 23rd place.
