Wörthsee - A tragic swimming accident occurred on Tuesday (16 August) on Lake Wörthsee.
At around 5:30 p.m., the water rescue services from the Wörthsee water rescue service, as well as the Seefeld, Schondorf and Grafrath rapid response groups and the operations management service from the Starnberg district water rescue service, were alerted to the swimming accident.
In the Walchstadt area, the drivers of an electric boat noticed a lifeless person floating in the water.
After they had made the emergency call, they tried to keep the 83-year-old man afloat until the forces of the Wörthsee water rescue service were on site.
Unfortunately, the resuscitation measures that were immediately initiated on the lifeboat and continued on land were unsuccessful.
Both the relatives and the communicators were cared for on site.
A total of 23 emergency services from the Wörthsee water rescue service, the land rescue service and the air rescue service as well as the police and emergency pastoral care were deployed.
The alarmed rapid response groups from the water rescue service were able to break off their journey before they even arrived because no further search measures were required.
The operation was managed by the operations management service of the district water rescue service in Starnberg.
