Fire in a wooden hut in Grainau: nine bee colonies fell victim to the fire

GAP - Today, around 11:40 a.m., the emergency services were notified due to heavy smoke in Grainau / Schmölz area.
When the fire brigade arrived, a wooden hut on Schmölzstraße in Grainau, which housed several bee colonies, was fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was quickly brought under control by the Grainau and Garmisch fire brigades.
Nevertheless, nine bee colonies fell victim to the fire.
The amount of damage is estimated at around 35,000 euros.
The morning before the fire, the owner of the beehives melted wax with a gas burner.
This may have caused the fire.
The exact cause of the fire is the subject of further police investigations.
The Grainau fire brigade was deployed with five vehicles and around 20 emergency services, the Garmisch fire brigade with three vehicles and around 25 emergency services, the rescue service with four vehicles, an emergency doctor and several police patrols.
