Friedenskirche in Bad Wiessee needs general renovation - celebration of the anniversary

The Evangelical Church of Peace in Bad Wiessee is 85 years old and in extremely poor condition.
The anniversary celebration should be followed by a general renovation as soon as possible.

– The Evangelical Church of Peace in Bad Wiessee is now 85 years old.
"At that age you have your niggles," said Pastor Sabine Arzberger at the anniversary celebration.
In the case of the Friedenskirche, the ailments are profound.
The roof is leaking, as is the bell tower, and the electrical system is dangerously dilapidated.
"Now the clock in the tower doesn't work either," reports the pastor. Her major goal is to restore the Church of Peace to a solid condition.
"We need this church, there's no question about that," says Arzberger.
With around 400 seats, it is one of the largest evangelical churches in the area.
The evangelical community celebrated the anniversary of the church with a champagne reception.
Many guests came, including Mayor Robert Kühn.
In a greeting he made the good connection between the church and the political community noticeable.
Evangelical churches in Bad Wiessee and Tegernsee move together
The congregational meeting followed the prayer service.
It also dealt with the changes that are planned for the beginning of the new church year on the first Advent.
Because the Protestant Church is also lacking in young pastoral workers, staff cuts are in the air.
In order to compensate for this, the evangelical communities in the Tegernsee valley are moving closer together.
In close cooperation, Arzberger and her colleague from Tegernsee, Martin Weber, have developed a joint service plan for Bad Wiessee and Tegernsee.
Renovation of the Friedenskirche costs at least 800,000 euros
Pastor Arzberger has a lot to do.
The renovation of the Friedenskirche is high on the agenda.
The condition of the place of worship is devastating, Arzberger sighs: "There is almost nothing here that is not dilapidated." In recent months, she has dealt intensively with the topic of renovation.
According to an initial calculation, the repair should cost around 800,000 euros - although the pastor estimates that this sum could still go up.
It is currently completely open how high the funding from the regional church will be.
Only one thing is certain: the funds are not plentiful.
Arzberger knows that the regional church only has a tight budget for building materials.
What is not covered by this must be raised by the municipality itself.
Without a fundraising campaign, the renovation of the Friedenskirche will probably not be possible.
It will start when the funding volume has been clarified.
Altgelt Foundation pays for the restoration of the organ
The organ from the 1990s, which is one of the best of its kind in the Oberland, also needs renovation, but has started to grow mold.
Luckily, the Hubertus Altgelt Foundation has agreed to take on the financing, reports the pastor: "We are very grateful for that." The organ renovation is expected to take place in the spring.
The most important repair measures on the church shouldn't wait long either, as Arzberger says: "We're still thinking about how to coordinate the whole thing."
