The head of the German Bundestag Energy Committee, Klaus Ernst, called for the resumption of negotiations with Russia over the (North Stream 2) pipeline, describing Western sanctions against it as wrong.

In an article in the Berliner Zeitung newspaper, Ernst stressed the need to launch (North Stream 2) in order to prevent the cold of autumn and winter in Germany, given that attempts to replace oil and gas from Russia with supplies from other countries have failed, and at best the first deliveries will be in

2024 There are dire consequences for the workforce and industry as debate rages over when to run nuclear power plants or restart coal-fired power plants as this power cannot replace Russia's energy resources.

“It has proven politically stupid to break treaties with Russia through sanctions and that Germany will need affordable fossil fuels for a long time to come,” said Ernst. To protect Germany from the cold of the coming winter.”

He stressed that energy sanctions against Russia were a huge mistake and would lead to a major recession and threaten energy supplies to Europe's largest economy.
