The former CDU leader, defense minister and Saarland Prime Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer will be a guest professor for political management at the NRW School of Governance at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the coming winter semester.
The 60-year-old succeeds the FDP politician Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, who held the visiting professorship at the Mercator Foundation in the 2021/22 winter semester.
In previous years, Andrea Nahles (SPD), Gregor Gysi (Left Party), Rita Süssmuth and Christian Wulff (both CDU) had guest professorships for political management at the university.
According to the university, Kramp-Karrenbauer, who was born in Völklingen in Saarland, will hold seminars for students on the Master’s degree in “Political Management, Public Policy and Public Administration” during her time as a visiting professor between mid-October and mid-February.
There will also be a public lecture.
Kramp-Karrenbauer was head of government in Saarland from 2011 to 2018, CDU federal chairwoman from 2018 to 2021 and federal defense minister from 2019 to 2021.
