A French tourist died on Tuesday of her injuries after being bitten by stray dogs in a seaside resort in Western Sahara, southern Morocco, local authorities told AFP on Wednesday (August 17th).
The victim, aged 44 and whose identity has not been disclosed, was attacked by a pack of stray dogs as she walked away from her hotel in the town of El Argoub, have specified the same sources.
An investigation has been opened
According to the first elements, the French national had arrived on Tuesday in El Argoub, a seaside resort known for the practice of kitesurfing, on the edge of the Atlantic, located 70 km from Dakhla, capital of the province of Oued Eddahab, a region of Western Sahara under Moroccan control.

An investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie, under the supervision of the prosecution, to elucidate the circumstances of this incident, added the local authorities.
The proliferation of stray dogs is a real scourge in the Maghreb.
The Moroccan state signed an agreement in 2019 with partners “
to sterilize, vaccinate and identify stray dogs
”.
