Bavaria's Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann, wants normality despite the energy crisis.

The CSU politician is more concerned with the lack of personnel in security.

Are we threatened with a “winter of rage”?

No, says Joachim Herrmann (CSU).

The Bavarian interior minister has other concerns, such as the lack of personnel in private security services.

Herr Herrmann, Annalena Baerbock warns of “popular uprisings”, others of a “winter of rage”.

Are you worried?

I don't believe in spouting new speculations every day and scaring people.

The federal government should ensure that the people don't have to get so upset in the first place.

If the energy supply works, I see no reason for popular uprisings.

And the price increases?

Of course, that's a big burden.

That is why politicians now have a lot to explain.

I think the vast majority of people in Germany are willing to follow this path.

Doesn't your party join in the fire when, for example, Markus Söder speaks of a "gas triage"?

Of course, the CDU and CSU must also ask the federal government to do everything possible to solve the problems.

But as Minister of the Interior I can say that we are doing our best at all levels to ensure supplies.

Energy crisis: No Bundesliga games under floodlights in winter?

Herrmann disagrees

What are the findings of your authorities: Are right-wing extremists trying to exploit concerns about inflation for themselves?

Of course we keep that in mind.

During the corona pandemic, we experienced some excesses and even introduced new observation categories because it was not always politically clear.

Sure: there were people who questioned our democracy.

But this was not a mass movement.

Do you think that was exaggerated?

In our democracy, it is permissible to demonstrate against compulsory vaccination.

That alone is not a radical opinion.

Inflation and gas are currently the dominant topics - and have now also reached the sport.

What does the responsible minister say: Does it make sense to play ice hockey in the hot summer?

The discussion has long been going on in the associations.

I spoke to the bobsleigh and sled association in Berchtesgaden just last week.

There one registers exactly that it is meanwhile cooler in March than in November.

That's why people are considering, for example, pushing the start of the winter sports season into December or, even better, right into the new year.

That would not only be better in terms of energy management, but also in terms of CO2 emissions.

Every winter sports association should deal with it.

Yesterday was the conference of sports ministers.

One wants to help the clubs with the energetic renovation.

Right.

The topic goes beyond the current problem.

We want to improve the energy efficiency of sports facilities throughout Germany.

It's about reducing energy consumption, but many systems would also be ideal for building large photovoltaic systems on the roofs.

This is primarily a matter for the clubs, of course, but the state must now initiate this with appropriate support programs.

There is already a debate as to whether it makes sense to play Bundesliga football on Friday evenings in times of energy shortages.

We must not make the mistake of immediately questioning all habits during the corona pandemic.

Not everyone can sit at home from Friday evening to Monday morning just because it might save energy.

You recently sat down with the representatives of the Bavarian clubs in professional football.

This has now become a nice tradition, in which we primarily discuss security issues.

.

.

One issue was apparently the club's problem of getting enough security forces.

This is not only the case with the football associations, but with all major events, including culture.

Many employees left the private security services during the pandemic.

In addition, you have to prove your qualifications with an IHK examination for certain functions.

These exams were not taken during Corona.

That's why all private security companies now have a big staffing problem.

But we have found a temporary solution and do not insist on an exam for every task.

Oktoberfest cancellation due to lack of security personnel?

Herrmann refers to the innkeepers

Does the state step in with the police?

no

That would be pointless.

Can this lead to the cancellation of events?

Remember the cancellation of the Puls Open Air in Kaltenberg.

The organizer was also unable to ensure sufficient security personnel the day before.

Is the shortage also a problem for the Wiesn?

The hosts of the tents are responsible for the private services.

So far, no one has approached me that this is not manageable.
