Forty boys and girls from the choir of Sheikh Daher's community choir of the Syrian Trust for Development formed, in harmony with their sweet voices and music, spaces of joy and love on the stage of Dar al-Assad for Culture in Latakia in their celebration, which was titled Our Music (1).

The celebration, which was held by Al-Manara in cooperation with the Mahmoud Al-Ajjan Institute of Music, came as a new start for the choir after stopping for about a year.

The celebration opened with a sweet song, Ya Baladi, to be followed by a group of songs of Mrs. Fairuz and Umm Kulthum, with the presence of Al-Qudud Al-Halabi and the muwashshahs of the great late Sabah Fakhri, and to conclude with the heritage of the city of Lattakia and the song “Ya Mahla Al Fasaha”.

The supervisor of the Skills and Self-Development Department in Al-Manara, Dr. Ruba Haider, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the concert is a new start for the Al-Manara choir, which was established five years ago, and after stopping for more than a year, work was on renovating it to include currently more than forty children between the ages of 6 and 16 years. With them, they present a group of the most beautiful Arabic songs to train children to hear this style of authentic singing, revive heritage through their voices, and spread it among the new generation to keep it alive among us.

Haidar pointed out that the ceremony also came to celebrate the successes in my third secondary and basic education certificates, who had success stories born of suffering and defiance after a long hiatus from school, and who were able, by following the strengthening courses at the beacon of the Syrian Trust for Development, to succeed and excel.

The coach and conductor of the choir, Al-Numeiri Muhammad, pointed to the endeavor to present music to children as the highest language, noting that the ceremony, which was accompanied by the Mahmoud Al-Ajjan Institute of Music Orchestra, worked to present heritage works and songs that exist in all of our hearts, emphasizing the importance of preserving and protecting the purity of the artistic and musical taste of the child.

Students who succeeded in completing their education after dropping out for long periods as a result of the war conditions. The strengthening courses and Al-Manara’s interest in them had a positive impact on their superiority. They spoke to SANA about their experience, including the student Batoul Abdel Aziz Al-Hadi, who dropped out of school for years as a result of “our displacement from Aleppo in 2013 and coming to Lattakia.” She said: I had the determination to return to study and succeed in it, which was the main credit for the support and strengthening courses in the Syrian secretariat, expressing her happiness with the honor and the fact that she is close to realizing her dream of studying English literature.

The student Fatima Omari, also coming from Aleppo, who suffered the bitterness of forced displacement from her governorate to the city of Lattakia, pointed out the great role played by the Municipality in encouraging her and returning to study to obtain a high school certificate with a high score that would enable her to enter her dream of studying Arabic literature, considering that “anyone has a goal.” In life he should strive for it without looking at all obstacles or stopping at any delay, sometimes harsh conditions are an additional incentive to make a difference in our lives.”

The event, which evoked, through a documentary film, an important aspect of the stories of excellence and success for these students, honored at the end of its celebration 16 students who succeeded and excelled in the basic and secondary education certificates.
