The aim of city cycling is to get more people to cycle short everyday routes instead of driving.

This year, numerous people from Peitingen pedaled hard in the “City Cycling” campaign.
In terms of kilometers cycled, a new record was set.
Peiting
– People in the market town of Peiting were already very satisfied with the results of the “City Cycling” last year.
This year, with the fourth participation in the campaign, even more kilometers were covered on the bike.
So it's no wonder that the conclusion is "absolutely positive" again, as Theda Smith-Eberle, who was responsible for the organization, explained to the local newspaper.
"We are on a good way."
During the three campaign weeks, the participants covered almost 10,000 kilometers more than last year.
It was a total of 57,535 kilometers this year.
In 2021 it was 47,456 kilometers.
Fewer participants cycle more kilometers
It is striking that the increase was achieved even though slightly fewer participants were registered: last year there were 377, this year 363 were registered.
"We are happy that the cyclists were so diligent," says Smith-Eberle.
The fact that further distances were covered is also determined by the campaign period.
Because while this year again in the summer, from June 25th to July 15th, pedaling was done, last year the campaign only started in autumn due to Corona.

Average age at 41 years
The market community is pleased that the campaign continues to be well received.
Especially "older semesters" would have contributed many kilometers.
The average age of the participants was 41 years.
However, the middle school students and some of their teachers contributed most of the kilometers to the total.
The 182 group members cycled a total of 22,233 kilometers.
Smith-Eberle also highlights the “Wechner Heat Pumps” group of companies: the team reported 42 cyclists and a total of 12,477 kilometers (that’s 297 kilometers per capita).
Peiting's most diligent cyclist is also part of the team, reveals Smith-Eberle.
For data protection reasons, she is not allowed to name any names, but: the single cyclist has managed 1600 kilometers - "a nice size".
Still ahead of Schongau in a district-wide comparison
He had a big lead over the other cyclists.
A man - "already over 70 years old" - came second with 1042 kilometers, which was also "really great", according to Smith-Eberle.
The best woman had cycled a total of almost 900 kilometers.

In a district-wide comparison, Peiting is back in fourth place behind Weilheim, Penzberg and Peißenberg.
Close behind is Schongau (54,201 kilometers).
The fact that the distance to the Lechstadt is getting smaller should be an incentive for some in the coming year, says Smith-Eberle and laughs.
She sees it as humorous, but can certainly imagine that some people have a competitive spirit and want to maintain their lead in the future.
Award ceremony follows
An award ceremony is planned for the best-placed in Peiting this year, probably at the beginning of September.
There should also be certificates.
