The West Kowloon Region held a Regional Traffic Day in the region yesterday (16th) to raise the traffic safety awareness of the public and motorists through publicity and education and strengthening of law enforcement.

Officers issued more than 6,700 fixed penalty notices and towed 22 vehicles that caused serious obstructions during the operation.


Police pointed out that during the operation, officers carried out joint operations at traffic black spots in various districts of West Kowloon to deal with bad habits involving pedestrians and motorists, such as "crossing the road randomly", "entering illegally at a yellow checkered junction", "not letting the zebra crossing". "Pedestrian first", "careless driving", "dangerous driving", and "mobile phone use while the car is moving" are enforced to reduce accidents.

Officers also used mobile camera teams during operations to enhance the efficiency of law enforcement.

The West Kowloon Region will continue to crack down on key traffic violations to ensure smooth roads and protect the safety of road users.

If a driver parks illegally, causing traffic congestion or posing a danger to other road users, the police may not only ticket the vehicle and prosecute the driver many times, but may also tow the vehicle away.

Police appeal to motorists not to park their vehicles illegally for a while.
