Rammstein was supposed to play a highly acclaimed New Year's Eve concert at the Theresienwiese in Munich.

The organizer has now canceled the event.

Munich – Till Lindemann sings the following lines in the song “You have”: “You asked me and I didn't say anything!” And it's something like that, but different than expected.

Not the city, but the agency Leutgeb said "no" and surprisingly canceled the New Year's Eve concert by Rammstein at the Wiesn on Tuesday.

The tz had first reported on this online.

According to tz information, the background was a conversation between representatives of the district administration department, the police, the fire brigade and individual city councillors.

Economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU) had invited.

The exchange was intended to clarify a few open questions.

As participants report, Leutgeb is said to have perceived a very negative attitude, especially from the KVR and the police, whereupon the concert organizer withdrew its offer for the New Year's Eve event.

The impression was solidified that there was a ready-made opinion among the authorities.

Leutgeb himself did not want to comment on request.

KVR spokesman Tobias Kapfelsberger said, however, that he too was surprised by the cancellation.

"During the conversation we explained what we had already told the city council." The concerns about noise protection, safety and transport connections were actually conveyed several times.

"At the end of the conversation, the organizer informed us that the timeline was too short to implement all of this."

That's surprising, says Greens boss Dominik Krause.

"We already expressed our concerns a week ago and said that it was too short notice." It has now been confirmed that the organizer also sees it that way.

Leutgeb had planned a Rammstein concert for 145,000 visitors on the Theresienwiese (tz reported exclusively).

The metal band should have played four hours until midnight.

The city council had signaled its approval on Wednesday, but only for further planning and under the stipulation that Leutgeb presented reliable concepts in terms of safety and noise protection.

Rammstein concert in Munich: Leutgeb cancels "the most noted New Year's Eve event in the world".

CSU boss Manuel Pretzl said on Tuesday that the cancellation was regrettable.

"Munich missed a great opportunity, it would have been the most noted New Year's Eve event in the world." But he could understand the organizer after he was "publicly mocked" by the administration.

"It was signaled to him that the event was not wanted.

Apparently a new style has moved in at the KVR, and I wish for an administration that makes something possible and doesn't prevent it."

Meanwhile, SPD Vice Christian Vorländer said that Leutgeb's decision deserved respect.

“We were open to the idea.

But it was always clear that the schedule was a big challenge.

The organizer has now seen that too."
