Former Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, former DFL boss Christian Seifert and former DFL supervisory board chairman Peter Peters have been made honorary members of the German Football League.
The award ceremony took place on Wednesday during the DFL General Assembly in Dortmund's Westfalenhallen.
Dortmund – Rummenigge (66) left his position with the German record champions in 2021, Seifert (53) left the DFL on January 1, 2022.
His successor is Donata Hopfen.
Peters (60) resigned from office at the beginning of 2022 for the presidential candidacy of the German Football Association.
The election of the honorary members by the General Assembly took place on the proposal of the Executive Committee.
"The appointment as a DFL honorary member fills me with joy and pride because, despite all my international activities, I was always a child of the Bundesliga, whether as a player since 1974 or later as a manager at FC Bayern," said Rummenigge.
The 66-year-old wished the Bundesliga “an exciting and emotional season” and “the greatest possible international competitiveness”.
The exclusive circle includes people who are being honored for their "outstanding merits and special achievements for German professional football" - including Franz Beckenbauer.
