A 30-year-old man from the central region was arrested today (Wednesday) on suspicion of beating his three-week-old son and causing him to fracture his skull after hitting his head hard several times.
Yesterday, an indictment and a request for arrest were filed against him.
The police opened an investigation about two weeks ago upon receiving a report from "Dana" hospital in Tel Aviv regarding injuries to a 3-week-old baby.
Investigators from the Gillot station immediately started an investigation, during which they were able to collect evidence against the father of the minor and found that while his wife and another relative were on the lower floor of the house, the suspect was with the baby on the upper floor.
When the baby started crying, his father, the suspect, hit him hard several times.

The police investigation also revealed that the suspect left the baby at home, without any medical treatment, for many hours until a finding was discovered in the baby's body that necessitated his arrival at the hospital.
In a medical examination at "Dana" hospital, it was found that the baby suffered a complex skull fracture with displacement.
Gillot police officers arrested the suspect (30 central area) and his detention was extended at the Shalom District Court in Tel Aviv.
Yesterday, the prosecutor's office filed a serious indictment against him for the crimes of assaulting a minor by a responsible person causing him serious injury and violating the duty of a responsible parent. Along with the indictment, a request for detention was also filed against him until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
