The Queen of Ronda had made the cocaine fly again.

The Police have arrested a well-known drug trafficker, named María del Mar MB and 38 years old, to whom they attribute the leadership of an organization that introduced cocaine through mules and suitcases on planes.

In the operation, in which two other people have been arrested, 11 kilos of cocaine and 23,500 euros hidden in the dashboard of a car have been seized.

The Spanish agents have had the collaboration of the Colombian anti-narcotics police.

The last trace of criminal activity of María del Mar MB dates back to a decade ago.

She was arrested in January 2012, when she was returning from a trip from Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and later sentenced to 11 years in prison for introducing cocaine into Spain using the mule technique - people with few resources who agree to transport drugs in their bodies. or camouflaged in clothing across the border.

At that time he lived in the Malaga town of Cuevas del Becerro (1,600 residents, Malaga), located 20 kilometers from Ronda.

From this place she takes her nickname, in a combination with the title of Arturo Pérez Reverte's novel

La Reina del Sur

.

And like other well-known drug traffickers, María del Mar MB, she led a life of luxury and used herself especially in charity work.

She came to pay out of her own pocket for the Three Kings Parade in her town and bought toys for different groups in the Serranía.

The police have arrested her again at the beginning of June, although it has not been made public until this Wednesday, August 17.

Her place of residence is still in Malaga, but her arrest has been made in Madrid.

They followed the thread of an investigation into a cocaine trafficking network through suitcases on commercial flights and had their sights set on a specific flight.

Once the plane arrived at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, they monitored it.

One of the passengers was "nervous and elusive" when passing the controls, as explained in a police note, and they decided to see if she had something to do with her investigations.

With a query to international cooperation channels they discovered that she had a history of drug trafficking in several Latin American countries.

The follow-up of the suspect from the airport took the agents to a shelter in the Madrid capital.

There he got in touch with a man who, according to the investigation, gave him an address.

At the time, the passenger and her suitcase took a taxi and went to a quiet residential area.

María del Mar MB and the man she had met at the shelter were waiting for her there.

The delivery of the suitcase was made, according to the investigators, in a community garage, in which the agents broke into.

In addition to arresting the three involved, they found 11 kilos of cocaine and several bundles of bills wrapped in transparent film paper that totaled 23,500 euros.

With that money, according to the investigators, they thought to pay for a drug that flew, but did not reach its destination.
