“The Fifty”: who are the 50 candidates for W9’s new reality show?

2022-08-18T16:05:54.146Z

Instead of "Marseillais vs The rest of the world" broadcast in recent years, the M6 group channel is launching a new format inspired by the universe of the Squid Game series from September 5, Monday to Friday at 6:50 p.m.

For the start of the 2022 school year, the M6 group channel is renewing its reality TV offer by offering a new format imagined and produced by Banijay France.

This year, the audiences for the last seasons of programs such as "The Princes and Princesses of Love" and "Les Marseillais" showed a sharp drop compared to previous editions, while the return of "Apprentis aventuriers" with Laurent Maistret in the animation was very promising.

As its name suggests, "The Fifty" brings together 50 well-known candidates from the world of reality TV: the oldest such as Amélie Neten ("Secret Story", "Les Anges"), Beverly ("Carré ViiiP", "L'île truths"), Anthony Lyricos ("La Belle et ses princes") and Christopher ("Les Chtis") to the most recent like Simon Castaldi ("Les Princes de l'amour"),

Adrien Truong (“The apprentice adventurers”) or Iléana Arnaud (“The Marseillais”).

In many ways, this new game bears striking resemblances to the world of Netflix's hit series,

Squid Game

The principle

In quarantine within the grounds of the castle of Bertichères in Chaumont-en-Vexin in the Oise, the daily life of the 50 candidates will be punctuated by tests.

The game master, called the lion, and his assistants (foxes, rabbits and dogs) are responsible for guiding the participants.

Every day, a big game played in a rectangular arena is punished by eliminations.

Other small challenges (the cap or no cap and the lion's madness) will be used, if successful, to feed a pot of up to 50,000 euros.

This money accumulated over the weeks will return, at the end of the game, to a viewer.

An interactive program

As “Love Island” was able to experience it in early 2020 during its brief broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, “The Fifty” will be accompanied by an application that viewers will be able to download on their smartphone.

After having filled in their name, date of birth, e-mail address and telephone number, they will simply be invited to support one of the candidates in competition with the hope of joining the club of the future elected official of the W9 game.

This support may evolve until the last week, when the identity of the seven finalists will be known.

A draw will be made among the supporters of the winner of the "Fifty" to determine who will win the amount of the kitty.
