The Modern Company for Agricultural Industries (Damascus Consortium) aims to manufacture about 14 thousand tons of tomatoes as part of its plan for the current season.
The company’s general manager, Ahmed Al-Ahmad, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that since the beginning of the season until now, the company has rented about two thousand tons of tomatoes, and it continues to import this material and at a higher rate with the picking of the next lugs, taking advantage of the large supply and its low prices with the approach of the peak of the season during the coming period to manufacture the largest amount of grapes Tomatoes as the material is in great demand.
Al-Ahmad indicated that the company aspires to diversify its basket of products from seasonal vegetables and fruits, especially those that are in great demand through their manufacture, including canned okra, canned baked beans and pickles, according to the demand for them in the market, in addition to its traditional products, including (fava beans, chickpeas with tahini, rosary and tomato paste). And jams and halva) besides the pepper molasses, which it has recently started producing, and (ground artichoke.. Anginaar).
Al-Ahmad pointed out that these works come within the framework of the plan of the Ministry of Industry and the General Organization for Food Industries to develop production in terms of quantity and quality while maintaining quality and the best specifications and supporting companies and laboratories with all available capabilities to work at their maximum potential and to overcome difficulties and obstacles that hinder the production process, stressing the company’s continuous endeavor to modernize production lines and invest Agricultural production and getting it from farmers directly to ensure that the local market is supplied with its products with high quality and competitive prices.
According to the production and marketing report of the company, it manufactured products with a quantity of about 1357 tons and a total value of more than 5.979 billion Syrian pounds during the period from the beginning of this year until the end of last July.
The report indicated that production included 321,290 tons of tomato paste, 465,894 tons of jams, 555,197 tons of confectionery and 14,507 tons of halva.
The report indicated that the cumulative sales amount during the mentioned period amounted to 1420,841 tons, with a total value exceeding 6.303 billion pounds.
