An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck southeast of the city of Rancagua in Chile last night, without reports of injuries or material damage.
Reuters quoted the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying that the quake, which struck 20 km southeast of Rancagua, was at a depth of 100 km.
An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit the city of Antofagasta, northern Chile, last month.
