Approaching a nuclear disaster: Ukrainian intelligence reveals a secret directive that Russia will implement on Friday | Israel today

According to the head of the military intelligence system in Kiev, Russia ordered the employees of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia, not to come to work.

With in the background the continued exchange of accusations between Ukraine and Russia regarding the damage to the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the Zaporizhia station may undergo a transformation as early as tomorrow (Friday), and not for the better.

The station, which is near a city of the same name that is still under Ukrainian rule and is therefore under repeated bombing, may stop working as early as Friday because of an order by the Russian military for workers not to come to work.

According to the NBC network, the Ukrainian intelligence received information according to which such a directive does exist, which may significantly disrupt the supply of electricity throughout Ukraine, since it is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe

.

According to the Ukrainians, disconnecting the nuclear facilities at the site from the Ukrainian electricity grid may lead to the shutdown of the generators designed to ensure that there is no overheating of nuclear fuel in the facilities, thus bringing the region closer to a severe nuclear disaster. Also, the station is responsible for a fifth of the electricity supply in Ukraine and disconnection may create heavy loads on the national electricity grid.

The head of Ukraine's military intelligence, Andriy Yusov, told the NBC network that he had given instructions from Moscow to Rosatom, the state atomic energy corporation that is responsible for operating the nuclear facilities in Russia, not to operate the station as of tomorrow (Friday).

The directive, if indeed such exists, was issued shortly after the Russian Ministry of Defense warned that it may stop the activity of the two reactors that remain active at the station because of the "Ukrainian shelling", although Ukraine claims that it is Russian shelling as part of the attempt to advance westward.

Russia believes that Ukraine is trying to create a provocation that will look like a Russian attack on the facility in order to discredit Russia in the international community, so it is threatening to disable it in order to deny Ukraine this possibility.

As mentioned, the new directive is part of this preventive move.

"There is new information indicating that a new instruction broadcast to most of the station's employees instructs them not to come to work on Friday, and mainly Rosatom employees," Yusov said.

Similar to the Russian accusation, the Ukrainians also believe that the Russians plan to misrepresent the station in order to win the sympathy of the world.

According to Yusov, the directive may be "an indication that the Russians are planning major provocations on Friday."
