Leaving the house without a mobile phone and wallet is hard to imagine for many these days, but it is possibly unimaginable to embark on a long journey with an unknown course without these two almost essential utensils.

Samuel Kennerknecht from Habach has done the unimaginable.

Habach – It started at the beginning of March.

Samuel Kennerknecht set out on a journey, left his parents' house and set out into the wide world.

No phone, no wallet.

Just an ID card and the clothes he was wearing.

The 24-year-old didn't even take the "emergency fifty" that his mother wanted to give him.

His destination: unknown.

"My parents probably didn't sleep well the first few weeks"

"I already believed that Samuel was capable of that, no question about it," says his mother Ulrike.

But of course she was still worried.

The young man is also aware of this: "My parents probably didn't sleep well for the first few weeks," he writes in a report on the first days of his adventurous trip.

This first leads him from Habach to the nearby motorway exit.

From there you can hitchhike to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

His goal there: find work first.

After all, he still needs a meal and a place to stay for the night – and he has to pay for it somehow.

Samuel Kennerknecht earns his money on the go

In his mind, he is already picturing himself cleaning car windows at the gas station – shirtless if necessary.

But it doesn't come to that.

In addition to a carpentry shop, where he cuts what feels like 1000 balcony slats, he also helps out with a bricklayer.

With his first money he buys lunch.

He doesn't have to spend the first night on a park bench, as feared.

A young woman he meets by chance on the street is very enthusiastic about his idea and takes him in for a night.

So the first day went pretty much as he had imagined.

He also received two valuable gifts: a toothbrush and a travel diary.

Gain valuable experience and experience adventure

But how do you actually imagine such a trip?

What drives a young man, who supposedly could have it much more comfortable, into such an adventure?

"It was also important to me to deliberately expose myself to a situation that isn't easy," explains the 24-year-old.

He wants to learn to organize himself, learn new languages, gain valuable experience and go on adventures.

All he needed was "nothing but time." After completing his studies in business psychology, these thoughts would not let him go and he set off.

With his experiences, Samuel also wants to encourage others to try something crazy.

Habacher documents his journey on social networks

The Habacher documents his experiences with pictures and short entries on the social network Instagram.

He can now also get in touch with his parents.

He has now earned enough money to buy a smartphone.

And that to the great joy of his mother Ulrike: "Especially the first few weeks, when Samuel didn't have a mobile phone, were quiet and full of worries."

Samuel Kennerknecht was in Spain when he sent his report to the local newspaper.

His first destination there: the capital Madrid.

A few days ago, he also shared pictures on his Instagram account that show him sightseeing in Barcelona.

Does uncertainty scare you?

Before that, Kennerknecht stayed in Italy for a long time.

In the meantime he had found work at a mountain hut on Monte Baldo in order to be able to finance his onward journey.

Where this leads him, Kennerknecht often decides very spontaneously.

He is often asked whether this uncertainty does not frighten him.

"Since I'm a Christian, my trust helps me," he explains and says: "If I stay at home because I'm scared, something horrible keeps me from beautiful things and I don't want to allow that." So the journey through the world becomes completely independent Money probably go on for a while.
