Bypassing his health condition and the muscular dystrophy that accompanied him since childhood, young Assem Ali established his own translation project, which made him a productive person who contributes to bearing the burden of his family's expenses like any natural person in it.

Assem, who is from the village of Al-Suda, one of the villages of the Akkar Plain, was born in 1993, a graduate of the English language department at the Faculty of Arts at Tartous University, 2015. His passion for this language began since childhood by listening to songs, watching movies, and focusing on pronunciation and words to study them academically at the university, and with his second year he started giving private lessons to students with him. And others in different stages of study with his interest in initiatives

The volunteer, which deals with translation through social networking sites, to be his first launch with the NASA website in Arabic, specialized in space sciences and physics.

He confirmed that he devoted himself to translating books and articles, and he has eight books translated from English into Arabic, which is the outcome of 9 years, the first of which is the book (Strength vs. Coercion) by Dr. David Hawkins with a publishing house in Beirut, the last of which is a collection of short stories by writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa with a publishing house in Baghdad, in addition to hundreds of translated articles. Both languages were published on websites and newspapers.

Assem worked hard to read various books in both languages to enrich his cultural and linguistic repertoire, and believes that one of the most important criteria governing the work of a translator is honesty in transmitting information and communicating the idea in a simple and understandable language that preserves its essence.

He explained that the administrative difficulties facing translators and publishers, in addition to the lack of specialized and updated dictionaries, and the severe weakness in translating Arabic knowledge production into other languages, prompted him to think of setting up an electronic publishing platform that would be the first in the Arab world and comparable to international platforms to facilitate the work of publishing houses and to deliver civilization, writers and Arab writers to every reader.

His mother, Maha Al-Khatib, is proud of what her son has accomplished and talked about the muscular dystrophy disease that accompanied him after his second year and the stages of its development, saying: “In front of Assem’s insistence on studying, we had to move to the city and live there so that the family cooperated with the school and university cadres, which formed a supportive environment for him to become an entrepreneur with his determination and effort. My literary education provided him with a real job opportunity and contributed more to the expenses of the house than anyone else in it.”

Allam Abdel-Hadi, owner of Al-Araaf Publishing House, which issued two translated books to Asim, confirmed that what prompted him to cooperate with him was the visions and creative ideas he had that contribute to building a new horizon in the translation project that he aspires to, in addition to his method of conveying information honestly and professionally during the translation process with linguistic proficiency and maintaining The spirit of the writer and the idea together.
