Despite the start in the middle of the pandemic, the balance after one year of the Königscard is positive.

The cooperation with the service provider is extended.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The start was under the worst possible conditions.

Because of the pandemic and the lockdown, hosts and tourism professionals could only be trained online for the introduction of the uniform electronic registration form.

"The pandemic didn't make it that easy for us," says Matthias Adam, Managing Director of Königscard Gästekarten GmbH in a virtual press conference.

The service provider has been a partner of the district since 2019.

And a good year after the electronic registration form was put into practice, the balance is positive.

Biggest plus point: With the card, public transport can be used free of charge

Bad Heilbrunn, Bad Tölz, Benediktbeuern, Jachenau, Kochel/Walchensee and Schlehdorf rely on the electronic registration form.

This is accompanied by a basic guest card, which the hosts can issue to the tourists, but do not have to.

Biggest advantage: With the card, local public transport can be used free of charge.

"Feedback from guests is positive," said Adam.

Almost 53,000 guest cards were issued last year.

33,360 uses of public transport were registered.

In addition, the respective municipality can equip the card with further discounts - for example reduced admission to the outdoor pool or a local museum or a discount on the mountain railway.

Königscard: There are 16 partners in the district

The Königscard is even more attractive here.

"This is not about discounts, but about all-inclusive services," says Andreas Wüstefeld, head of Tölzer Land Tourismus.

The guest can take advantage of 200 of these free services in the entire region, right across to the Allgäu.

So far there are 16 partners in the district: For example, with the Königscard you can use the Blomberg and Herzogstandbahn free of charge every day or you can look forward to free entry to the Kristalltherme in Kochel once a week.

Various museums also grant free entry.

Of course, free public transport is also included here.

Königscard hosts have to pay a surcharge per night and guest

However, this all-inclusive card is not available for free.

Hosts who want to offer the Königscard have to pay a fee of 4.75 euros per night and holiday guest.

This flows into a pot from which the service partners receive part of the services.

67 percent of the normal price were the last.

The levy per night may have caused one or the other landlord to hesitate.

So far, only seven hosts with a total of 273 beds are on board with the Königscard.

You started with five hosts.

"The number will continue to grow," Adam is convinced.

In the meantime, guests would specifically ask about Königscard establishments and also book them.

"We are satisfied with the start."

Lenggries has its own system, but "the door is open"

The fact that there are no longer providers and beds is also due to the fact that Lenggries, one of the main tourism locations in the district, does not participate in the system.

As reported, the Brauneck village had already successfully started its own system for several years when the basic card and Königscard were introduced.

In Lenggries there is the guest card as a basis, and the "guest card plus" as an all-inclusive offer, which is also financed via a pay-as-you-go system.

"We don't want a war of systems," says Wüstefeld.

Lenggries decided at the time to stick with his established system.

Time will tell whether this separation will last forever, says Wüstefeld.

"In any case, the door is open."

There will definitely be time for further talks and finding more partners.

In their July meeting, the district and tourism committees of the district council decided to extend the cooperation with Königscard Gästekarten GmbH by a further three years.

The district pays almost 50,000 euros per year to the service provider.

Around 2260 euros would be added if the municipality decided to join the system.
