Former Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt from the CSU is a top diplomat in the service of the United Nations in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
His outburst of anger at a press conference shows him not very diplomatic.

“Trash, absolute garbage!
Folks, I'm not sitting and standing here - I care about this country.
This is a city where people have lost their lives.
And we're not just here to play political games.
But in this country there are people who play political games.
Not people - but politicians.
And I'm fed up with that."
This freak raised some eyebrows — and was making the rounds on social media.
After all, ex-Federal Minister of Agriculture Christian Schmidt from the CSU has been in the Balkan country for about a year as High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the United Nations - and is therefore a high-ranking diplomat.
In his role, he is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the civilian aspects of the Dayton Peace Accords that ended the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the mid-1990s.
The background to the freak concerns the controversial electoral law reform that Schmidt wanted to push through.
At the press conference in the city of Gorazde, Schmidt responded to journalists' inquiries as to why his electoral law reform discriminated against minorities.
The question remains whether he really fell out of character spontaneously out of anger – or with calculation.
His answer was hardly appropriate to the office.
Christian Schmidt, UN representative
»Ask your questions, but please take my decisions and the way I treat people.
Sorry to be so blunt - but I'm sick of all these allegations that are dead wrong."
