Collision due to risky overtaking maneuver in Gauting

A sports car driver causes an accident in Gauting with his risky overtaking manoeuvre.

According to the police, there is a lot of damage.

Gauting – Three vehicles are involved in the accident between Buchendorf and Gauting.

The cause is a daring overtaking maneuver by a sports car driver.

On Wednesday, according to the police, at around 2:25 p.m. on the local road from Buchendorf to Gauting, there was an accident involving three vehicles, which could have ended badly, but luckily ended relatively lightly.

Frontal collision could not be avoided

A 72-year-old Porsche driver from Gauting swerved to the left about 250 meters after leaving Buchendorf to overtake a car driving in front of him and overlooked the oncoming car of a 49-year-old woman from Gauting.

The driver steered her vehicle with presence of mind to the right into the adjacent green belt to create space and to prevent a head-on collision. However, this evasive maneuver was no longer able to prevent a collision of all three vehicles.

The driver of the sports car touched the front left side of the car he was trying to overtake with the right rear fender of his vehicle.

On the other hand, he grazed the left side of the swerving car with the rear left side of his vehicle,

83-year-old driver is pushed into a field with her car and suffers a shock

The 83-year-old driver of the overtaken vehicle was steered to the right into the adjacent field by touching the Porsche, where her vehicle came to a standstill.

After the collision with the two vehicles, the Porsche also left the road to the right, turned 180 degrees on its own axis and also came to a standstill in the aforementioned field on the right-hand side.

Amount of damage to the three cars: 62,000 euros

The 83-year-old driver, who also comes from Gauting, suffered a shock in the accident.

Fortunately, the Skoda driver and the Porsche driver were not injured.

The total amount of damage is around 62,000 euros, of which the lion's share is undoubtedly due to the severely damaged sports car, which was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away by an informed car dealership.

The VW Golf, whose property damage is estimated to be around 10,000 euros, was also no longer roadworthy and therefore had to be towed away, while the Skoda driver was able to continue her journey despite her damage of around 7,000 euros. 

Negligent assault

Proceedings for negligent bodily harm are being instituted against the person who caused the accident because of his overtaking maneuver, which led to an accident due to oncoming traffic.

The further investigations and the outcome of the criminal proceedings will show whether the person who caused the accident can expect a driving ban in addition to a fine and points in the traffic offender file in Flensburg.
