“
We are the country in Europe where milk is the cheapest
”, regretted this Thursday morning the president of the FNSEA Christiane Lambert at the microphone of France Inter.
While producers and farmers are suffering the brunt of a “
serious and historic
” drought, the president of the first agricultural union in France launched this Thursday “
a solemn appeal
” to distributors so that they “
play the game
” and “
increase the price of milk
.
Christiane Lambert also encouraged consumers to "
measure that by buying certain products you support, or not, French agriculture
".
Aware of the difficulties of households when inflation exceeds 6% in France, the president of the FNSEA observes that “
in all the neighboring countries, the price of milk is higher than one euro
”.
"
We are also the country in Europe where inflation is the lowest
," she underlines.
The German example
“
Germany today sells milk in the supermarket for 1 euro, in France it's 78 cents.
These 22 cents that are missing, they make all the difference
” insists Christiane Lambert.

Because, according to the president of the FNSEA, between the Covid-19 crisis, the war in Ukraine and climate change, the cost of feed for livestock has increased, that of fuel has doubled, the price of fertilizers has been multiplied by three.
And all of this has an impact on increasingly high charge levels.
"
We farmers, when we sell for less, sometimes...there are bankruptcies
" emphasized Christiane Lambert.
“
And if we cause bankruptcies by always pulling prices down, we will lose companies that are jewels of French gastronomy
” she is alarmed.
