While many holiday countries have relaxed their corona measures, many cruise ships still have compulsory vaccinations.

A shipping company now wants to change that.

In many countries, the corona pandemic hardly plays a role anymore.

Entry rules have been lifted, masks are no longer compulsory and proof of vaccination, recovery or testing is no longer required.

The situation is currently different for most cruise lines.

Both Aida and Tui Cruises require passengers aged 12 and over to be fully vaccinated.

Tui Cruises even recently reintroduced the obligation to wear masks.

Vaccination requirement abolished: Norwegian Curise Line relaxes corona rules

A large cruise line is now taking a different route: Norwegian Cruise Line will again allow unvaccinated passengers to travel on all departures from September 3rd.

“The world is opening up again and tempting us to travel to our favorite destinations.

As a result, we have updated our health and safety protocols to align even more closely with the protocols of the travel, leisure and hospitality industries worldwide."

However, guests without vaccinations are not allowed to travel without any conditions.

Unvaccinated passengers over the age of 12 must present a negative PCR or rapid antigen test no more than 72 hours old prior to embarkation.

Guests under the age of 12 do not need to observe any special measures.

In addition, the shipping company points out

that different rules may apply in certain countries.

That is, passengers may be denied embarkation if they do not comply with country-specific measures.

Norwegian Curise Line cruises: These rules apply until September 2nd

Until September 2, however, even stricter rules apply: Guests 12 years and older must have a full vaccination record at least two weeks before embarkation when departing from a US port.

All travelers 6 years and older require either a negative PCR test that is no more than 72 hours old or a negative rapid antigen test that is no more than 48 hours old.

Alternatively, proof of recovery can also be submitted.

Passengers up to the age of five are exempt from the Corona measures.

Exceptions are trips to Bermuda or Canada - stricter rules apply here.

If the cruise departs from Piraeus in Greece, all travelers aged 12 and over must be fully vaccinated and have a negative corona test or a certificate of recovery by September 2nd.
