Federal government wants to reduce VAT on gas

High gas prices are a burden on households and industry.

Now the federal government wants to take further countermeasures - and temporarily reduce the value added tax to 7 percent.

Berlin - The federal government wants to demand a lower VAT rate on natural gas for a limited period of time.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced on Thursday in Berlin that the tax should be reduced from the previous 19 to 7 percent.
