The intelligence is entrusted with the formation of the strategic intelligence picture at the national level on a series of topics including the Iranian nuclear, global terrorism and normalization with the Arab world. It is also responsible for the intelligence in all Mossad operations and manages many hundreds of employees in the professions of intelligence collection, analysis and research.

There are currently four women in the highest command level of the Mossad, known as the Department Heads Forum.

The most senior position in the Mossad held by a woman was about 30 years ago, when Aliza Magen served as deputy head of the Mossad.

Since then, several women have been appointed to senior positions in the Division Heads' Forum, but never in the organization's history have women come to head the Iran system and head the Intelligence Directorate.
