Colombian authorities announced that nine workers are trapped underground by a landslide that occurred in an illegal coal mine in the center of the country.

And the Agence France-Presse quoted the National Mining Agency as saying in a statement that the landslide occurred in an illegal mine in the town of Lingwazki, noting that contacts were made with the nine miners, all of them are alive and one of them is injured, and they are being supplied with air and they are receiving medical support from the surface.

The agency pointed out in its statement that it is looking into the possibility of digging a tunnel from another mine to reach them.

The petroleum and mining sectors are the main sources of treasury imports from exports in this country, which recorded last year the fourth largest economy in Latin America.
