Torn out stools, broken steles, smashed windows - rioters have caused damage to the Bad Kohlgruber Moorhütte, the nature trail and the pond.

Now everything is repaired again: Thanks to hard volunteer work.

Bad Kohlgrub – Who was it?

A mystery.

Monika Niklas excludes small children.

"The stools would have been too heavy for her." The seating is solid oak.

Grabbing them and throwing them into the pond requires the strength of at least one young person.

Several blocks of wood ended up in the water.

And that's not all: one or more libertines have left a trail of devastation at the Bad Kohlgruber Moorhütte, on the nature trail and on the adjacent pond.

Niklas, chairwoman of the “Unser Bad Kohlgrub” association, looks after the facility with her members and has lovingly taken care of the small hamlet near Bad Kohlgrub for years.

The furnished bog hut is part of the nature trail all about the bog.

There are many information boards, in showcases you can read not only interesting things about the moor, but also about current events in the region.

A place of rest.

But the sight of the area at the beginning of August shocked many guests and locals and made Niklas blush with anger.

Strangers smashed three shop windows and threw oak stools into the pond

Unknowns smashed three shop windows, threw several oak stools that were anchored 20 centimeters deep in the ground into the pond, trampled on steles and beams - in short, they let the violence run free.

Every now and then Niklas has to do with little things that get broken.

But this scale is new even to her.

The report to the police and a call to social media have so far not been fruitful.

The glazier installed the new panes on Tuesday and the damage has now been fully repaired.

Luckily nothing has happened since then.

But the volunteers are still stuck with the costs in the three-digit range - and of course nobody counts the voluntary hours that not only had to be spent on maintenance, but now also on repairs.

For Mayor Franz Degele, this is a new level of brutalization.

He knows that things get broken from time to time, especially during the holiday season, for example in the spa gardens.

"But those are always small things." But he condemns the fact that a facility is deliberately devastated.

The municipality is therefore in close contact with the police in order to be able to at least take preventive measures.
