The decision against the Palestinian organizations: the United States demands clarification from Israel Israel today

A spokesperson for the American State Department on the definition of the Palestinian associations as "terrorist organizations":

"We are concerned about the decision, we have contacted senior levels in Israel to get more information about the basis on which the associations were closed and we will ask for more information. They (the Israelis) assured us that there would be more information that they would give us. We made it clear to the government Israelis and Palestinians that the third sector must continue to operate and is necessary for thriving democracies."

The spokesman also stated that "We conveyed the message that a very high threshold is needed to take action against the third sector. They (the Israelis) claim that they have met this threshold and therefore we will examine the basis for which the measures were taken, we have not yet received this information and expressed this concern privately to the Israelis. According to them, what they mentioned to us in the last few hours is justification for their activity, and when we receive the information we will examine it." 

As a reminder, Defense Minister Benny Gantz confirmed his decision to declare the organizations "Union of the Women's Committees", "Bisan" and "Admir" as terrorist organizations.

These are organizations related to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, for which Gantz made an identical decision with temporary effect already in October 2021, and now it has become permanent. 

According to the Ministry of Defense, "the organizations operate under the guise of carrying out humanitarian activities to promote the goals of the terrorist organization the Popular Front, to strengthen the organization and to recruit operatives, and also assist in raising funds for the terrorist organization using a variety of methods of forgery and deception. The five organizations are controlled by the Popular Front, employ operatives Popular Front in administrative and field positions, and work to hide their identity out of fear of the security bodies in Israel and in the countries where the organizations raise donations for their activities."
