The Expatriate Forum, which was held in the Suwayda Governorate building today, discussed the reality of investment and its opportunities in the governorate, and the expatriate's contribution to local and economic development and the construction process with the combined efforts of all parties.

The forum, which was organized by the directorates of decision support, regional planning and industrial zones in As-Suwayda Governorate and the branch of the Syrian Investment Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Southern Region Development, presented a presentation on the components of the governorate and the reality of a number of successful experiences and investment projects in it.

The interventions of investors and expatriates included the importance of securing energy sources, enhancing security and safety, achieving stability in the exchange rate, combating corruption and administrative routine, overcoming difficulties, addressing work obstacles and providing possible facilities for investors and expatriates to encourage them to return to their homeland and contribute to its reconstruction and development.

During the forum, the Governor of As-Suwayda, Engineer Bassam Parsik, noted the national role of expatriates in expatriate countries through the assistance they provide and the investments they make that support the Syrian economy and contribute to its development, pointing out the importance of these meetings to discuss the issues and proposals of expatriates and investors, set the best vision and take appropriate measures to overcome difficulties.

The Director of the Industrial Zones in As-Suwayda, Eng. Alaa Abu Ammar, gave a presentation on the investment components and advantages of agricultural, industrial, natural, geological, tourism, cultural, historical and religious, investment opportunities offered in various fields, and the role of the industrial city in Umm al-Zaytoun, which represents the fifth industrial cluster in Syria as an incubator for industrial projects.

The director of decision support and regional planning in the governorate, Jihan Al-Awam, referred to the expatriates’ great social initiatives and contributions in various fields, including the implementation of various service projects, support for small and micro projects, the establishment of investment projects, and assistance to local councils, which reflects their adherence to their homeland and their families in light of the circumstances that Syria is going through.

In turn, the director of the Syrian Investment Authority branch in Suwayda, Mais Fahd, spoke about the advantages of Investment Law No. 18 of 2021, which aims to create a competitive investment environment, facilitate and simplify procedures for investors, and the role of the Authority's branch in encouraging investors and providing facilities to them.

The District Attorney, Judge Fouad Salloum, presented the facilities provided by investment laws and their continuous updates in line with the desire to advance the country and society, with a willingness to answer inquiries and questions from expatriates and investors about the regulating laws and procedures related to work.

Chairman of the Suwayda Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nabih Bakri, pointed out what the Chamber is doing to encourage the return of expatriates and invite investors to invest in the governorate and benefit from the available investment advantages.

The forum was attended by the Secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party branch in Suwayda, Fawzat Shukair, the head of the provincial council, Rasmi Al-Aysami, a number of members of the governorate's executive office, directors of departments and relevant authorities, a crowd of expatriates, investors, and commercial and industrial activities.
