The first literary prize awarded to books for the start of the 2022 school year, the Méduse prize, was awarded this Wednesday to journalist Blandine Rinkel for
Vers la violence
(Éditions Fayard), the jury announced on Wednesday.
This is the third novel by the 31-year-old author, also a musician, actress and dancer.
The narrator evokes the figure of a beloved father, "
imposing, mocking and virile
", but "
a man I don't know
" because this policeman does not reveal himself very much and is brutal.

The Méduse prize was awarded for the first time.
Endowed with 5,000 euros and a residence, it will be awarded on August 27 in Saint-Tropez in the Var.
“
Far from byzantine combinations and contrived rumors, from stale glories and official scriptures, Méduse enshrines promise and novelty
,” the Méduse prize said in a statement in May.
Blandine Rinkel featured in the selection of six novels featuring authors such as Pierre Adrian, Dominique Celis, Corentin Durand, Pierre Guénard and Maria Larrea.
The Méduse prize opens the so-called autumn prize season, a crucial issue for the sales of novels in France, offering visibility in the media and in bookstores during the end-of-year holiday period.
