The salary of the supervised dormitories will increase by NIS 152 - the union of nannies threatens a strike Israel today

2022-08-18T18:47:56.213Z

The government wanted to make it easier for parents to deal with the cost of living and established a moderate increase in the rate for the coming school year • The nannies: "We are going broke - all expenses are on us"

The fee for the supervised dormitories will rise by NIS 152:

the price committee that convened for the 2018 TPFG recommended to the Ministers of Finance and Economy to raise tuition fees in the subsidized nurseries by NIS 546 per month - but the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Economy and Industry worked to moderate the rate increase The payment to nurseries, in such a way that the price will increase by only NIS 152 per month.

According to the proposal drawn up by them, instead of the controlled price increase recommended by the committee, the price in 2018 will increase by only NIS 152, and it will even be subsidized by the state by about 50% for the parents who are entitled to it, so that it will be only about NIS 77 on average (and according amount of income of the parents).

In the year 2015, the following pulse will be examined.

Also, an appeal was made to the legal advisor to the government in order to allow the state to grant a full subsidy in the coming school year to parents who are entitled to it.

The tariff has not been updated since 2009. This outline allows for an answer to the increase in the costs of operating the nurseries and the erosion of the nannies' wages while reducing the amount of the parents' payments.

In Israel, there are approximately 3,700 nurseries subsidized by the Labor Department, where there are approximately 18,300 toddlers from birth to age 3. During the past year, the responsibility for the day care centers was transferred from the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Education.

"We will not start the school year"

In the Union of Nursery Nurses, they are protesting the decision to raise the rate slightly and in a way that does not allow them to deal with the expenses, and are threatening not to open the school year.

"We are proud that, following a persistent struggle by the union, the rate is expected to change after 13 years. We are troubled by the fact that, due to narrow political considerations, the finance and economy ministers decided to postpone most of the increase for another year (after admitting the need to raise the rate)," the union said.

"The cost of living doesn't wait for another year, it's already here and we're collapsing from it. How do you expect us to continue operating the nurseries this year when all the expenses are on us and the prices are sky high? That's not how you handle the cost of living."
