Former US President Donald Trump took another unusual political action tonight (Wednesday) and expressed support for one of his bitterest opponents.
Trump, who represents the Republican Party, intervened in the primary elections in the Democratic Party, which will be held this Tuesday, in the 10th district of New York.
The leading contender according to the polls is the lawyer, Dan Goldman, who led the impeachment attempt of Trump, when he served as president.
Last night, in order to hurt Goldman, Tramup surprised and published a message of support for his bitter rival.
On his social network, "Truth", Trump wrote that "it is a great honor for me to support the lawyer, Dan Goldman. I am not doing this because he chaired the impeachment committee against me and lost, but because he was honorable, fair and extremely intelligent. The former president's stance in favor of Goldman was intended to hurt him.
Trump is one of the most hated people in New York City, which only votes for Democratic candidates anyway.
He knows that his support for Goldman can only drive voters away from the Jewish lawyer.
Goldman immediately tried to break free from Trump's bear hug.
"This is a pathetic attempt to mislead the Democratic voters, who are much smarter than Trump. There is only one candidate you fear. Wait Trump, I'm coming to you," Goldman responded.
The one who embraced Trump's step with both hands is the member of the local House of Representatives of New York, U-Line Neo.
According to the polls, it is now in second place after Goldman.
Neo represents the radical left current in the Democratic Party and, among other things, has expressed support for a boycott of Israel.
"I think the right to protest is a fundamental value in a democracy and that's why I support BDS," Neo told Jewish Insider magazine.
But she later added that she supports Israel's right to exist.
Neo was quick to leverage Trump's support for Goldman.
"Donald Trump has just endorsed my multi-millionaire opponent, in case you need a reminder of what the choice is," she wrote on Twitter last night.
Since the trolling of the former president was only tonight, it is too early to know what its effect was.
In the tenth district, which includes southern Manhattan and Brooklyn, over a quarter of a million Jews live, and they make up almost 40 percent of the total population.
Those of them who support Israel are fighting Neo anyway due to her socialist and anti-Israel positions, so Trump's announcement does not matter to them.
