By 6 p.m., the police arrested an 11-year-old boy, who was accompanied by his mother and returned to the police station in a police car.


The police stated that the female resident surnamed Li (66 years old) of the unit that caught fire in the case inhaled thick smoke and was sent to Guanghua Hospital in a coma; the 34-year-old foreign female resident of another unit also inhaled thick smoke and felt unwell, and was sent to Guanghua Hospital at the same time. After preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the arrested boy used burning incense sticks in the corridor of the upper site to set fire to the clothes hanging outside the door of the unit involved. The reason is unknown.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of "arson" and is being detained and handed over to the Wong Tai Sin District Crime Squad for follow-up.

When the boy was taken into the police car, he once scolded the media present with his middle finger.
