The garden project of the action center in the Benediktbeuern monastery is taking shape.
Those responsible hope to be finished with their project in two years.
This requires donations.
Benediktbeuern -
The garden project of the action center in the Benediktbeuern monastery is progressing.
The redesign of the 14,000 square meter garden has been in the works for about two years now.
Those responsible hope that they will have completed the major projects in another two years.
However, funding could be an issue.
The Tölzer Kurier took a look at the project.
The idea of redesigning this large area arose in connection with the conversion of the southern arcade wing of the monastery.
The pandemic also made for a perfect period, as there were no guests in the action center and the garden could therefore be redesigned well.
The redesign is mainly done by young people as part of the "Bock auf AZ" project under the leadership of project manager Lars Fendrich.
In his heart project, he particularly appreciates the closeness to nature and the relationship with the young people.
Both Fendrich and the young people report that they have become a good community over the past two years.
"After a certain time, the children don't spend as much time on their cell phones, preferring to be in a group," says Fendrich with a smile.

During the walk through the garden with the courier, 15-year-old garden spokesman Michael Eibl explains: “We are a good group of friends who not only work together, but often sit together in the evening and have a barbecue, for example.
Young and old meet at eye level".
The young person shows what they have already set up.
He is particularly proud of the willow pavilion, which is intended to serve as an outdoor educational space and retreat for guests.
For this purpose, the young people got willows from the moor and equipped the pavilion with a “roof” made of willows and benches.
In addition, a garden shed was converted into a workshop and a soccer field was created.
A plaster labyrinth was also created.
“The pavement labyrinth is intended as a place of silence.
We have also laid our own water and electricity lines”,

In the future, a beach volleyball and basketball court will be built in addition to the soccer field.
An outdoor kitchen is also planned, where groups can cook and have a barbecue together.
However, not only new elements are created, but also the older ones are preserved.
Sustainability is a big topic that the young people take very seriously and also take into account when renovating.
Many flowers are planted for bees, all waste is recycled and dead wood is made into wood chips.
In addition, the garden should be designed barrier-free and thus be accessible to everyone.
For example, the values of faith, sustainability and spirituality are taken into account when planning the new path of creation.
The young woman Elisabeth Karmann had the idea for the project, whereby the story of creation is linked to environmental problems on seven panels.
The first panel draws attention to the origin of light and light pollution.
"We not only want to warn, but also show that our beautiful world is still there, which we must preserve," says Karmann.
Action center in the Benediktbeuern monastery: Committed young people lend a hand
The project is worked on four times a year for a week during the holiday season.
Dedicated young people also come more often on weekends to help with gardening.
“We work in any weather, because something has to be done.
We don't have any pressure from outside, but our own motivation," reports Eibl, who lives near Munich.
He has been associated with the Action Center for a long time as he used to come here often with his parents.
He was enthusiastic about the garden project.
“I appreciate that we can develop and try something together.
It's a good learning experience, and I personally discovered my strengths and weaknesses," says Michael Eibl.
As an advertising team leader, he discovered the field of marketing for himself.

Brigitte Hartmann supports the project financially and has been at the action center time and time again since 1976.
She finds: "It's a show of what the young people have achieved here and the cooperation also works great." Volunteer Rebecca runs the donation page for the project.
"The pandemic has made it difficult to reach out to people to fundraise because there were no meetings," said fundraiser Rebecca.
The cost of the project has doubled due to the increase in value from inflation.
Instead of 100,000 euros, 200,000 euros are now required.
The AZ team has started a fundraising campaign on the online platform "Betterplace.org".
In addition, the constant developments of the project are highlighted on YouTube and Instagram.
