Hundreds of rubber ducks have been swimming between Planegg and Gräfelfing every year since 2005.
More precisely, almost every year.
Würmtal
- Most recently, the traditional duck race on the Würm had to be paused twice due to the corona pandemic and could only take place "dahoam" or digitally.
This year, the association Miteinander can finally give the starting signal again on the banks of the Würm.
The date for the race is Saturday, September 10th.
The rubber ducks can already be purchased in numerous shops for five euros;
all participating shops are listed on the website of the association Miteinander (miteinander-verein.de).
The organizer focuses on sustainability, which is why ducks that were purchased in previous years are also admitted to the race for an entry fee of three euros.
Check-in for the ducks is from 12 p.m. at the Friedenskirche in Gräfelfing, where there is also a last-minute sale.
The flock of ducks that have been collected will then be let down from the Planegger Bridge on Germeringer Straße at around 2 p.m. for the swimming race in the Würm.
The goal is the Church of Peace, where a big family festival is taking place.
There will be coffee and cake, drinks and grilled food.
Attractive prizes await the owners of the fastest ducks.
With the income, the association supports many projects of child and social work in the Würmtal.
