The president of the Shas Council of Torah Sages, Rabbi Shalom Cohen, is hospitalized in intensive care. The 91-year-old Rabbi Cohen has been hospitalized for more than a week due to an infection in his leg.
There is currently no immediate danger to his life.
The rabbis call for accepting the coming Shabbat early, and tearing down the gates of heaven at the opening of the temple on a holy Shabbat.

Shas chairman Aryeh Deri tweeted on his Twitter account: "Out of anxiety for the safety of our father, our teacher and our greatest leader of the generation, Maran Hacham Shalom Cohen ben Tufaha Malka Shalita, President of the Council of Sages of the Torah, I pray in supplication along with all of Klal Yisrael for his complete and speedy recovery, in sound health soon".
