Former Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam was arrested this Friday for the crimes of forced disappearance, torture and against the administration of justice, in the case of the 43 disappeared students from Ayotzinapa.
Murillo Karam was a prosecutor during the government of former President Enrique Peña Nieto during the years 2012 and 2015 and led the case of the Raúl Isidro Burgos Rural Normal School in which the young people disappeared in 2014.

According to the authorities, the arrest took place in front of his house and Murillo Karam did not resist.
The detainee was transferred to the facilities of the Prosecutor's Office and will then be presented to the authorities.
His arrest comes a day after the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice in the case declared the disappearance a "state crime."
