The Freising district office has issued a decree for the temporary re-commissioning of wood-burning stoves.

But rules have to be observed.

District

– The use of wood is an important contribution to saving fossil fuels.

"Due to a possible gas shortage in the upcoming heating season, private wood furnaces that have been shut down in Bavaria can be put back into operation for a limited period of time under certain conditions," says Robert Stangl, press spokesman for the Freising district office.

The district office issued a corresponding general decree on August 18th, which applies to the period from September 1st, 2022 to August 31st, 2023.

This allows exceptions to be granted and time-consuming individual decisions to be avoided.

Older wood furnaces such as one-room furnaces (e.g. fireplaces or tiled stoves that only heat one room) or central heating systems that have already been taken out of operation due to the renovation deadlines of the 1st Federal Immission Control Ordinance (1st BImSchV) but have not yet been dismantled, can be used for be used again for a transitional period in an emergency.

The prerequisite is that they completely or partially replace the operation of an existing gas heating system.
