The Geretsried company Rudolf Chemie wants to expand.

For this, the diesel route would have to become a dead end.

The company explains why.

Geretsried – The premises of the Rudolf Chemie company are bursting at the seams.

The company is therefore currently working on expansion plans.

As reported, the Dieselweg should become a dead end so that the area beyond this street can be optimally connected.

When asked by our newspaper, the Rudolf managing directors Dr.

Wolfgang Schumann and Dr.

Oliver Kusterle on why this unusual solution would be so important for the company.

385 people are employed at the headquarters

At its headquarters on Altvaterstraße, the company with 385 employees manufactures over 800 chemical products - mainly for the textile industry.

In the past ten years, the company has grown significantly, says Managing Director Kusterle.

“Business has more than doubled.

Now there is simply no more space to continue investing.”

The company bought a plot of land on the neighboring Dieselweg ten years ago.

And that would be the preferred place for further investments.

Kusterle: "Then we can continue our core chemistry here at the site." This means the intermediate products that Rudolf produces for his global customers in Geretsried.

Theoretically, these products could also be produced at the Rudolf sites in Indonesia and China.

However, due to concerns about protecting intellectual property, the managing directors would be reluctant to see a relocation to Asia.

Now there is simply no more space to continue investing.

In addition, the headquarters are also designed for the manufacture of these products.

"We sealed the entire floor here," explains Managing Director Schumann.

"If a barrel falls over here or is damaged by a forklift, it doesn't just seep into the ground, but runs in a controlled manner into a sewage system that is separate from the public sewage system." be driven on the street.

In addition, the forklift may only be used on the company premises.

Alternatives "not practical and not affordable"

From the point of view of the Rudolf company, the ideal solution would be to connect the site directly to the headquarters – and thus turn Dieselweg into a dead end.

"We also examined ramp and tunnel solutions," reports Wolfgang Schumann.

But the street is very old, "there are sewers, telephone and power lines in there".

That would mean that for a tunnel you would have to dig very deep and build very long ramps.

"That's not practical and not affordable," the 49-year-old continued.

Schumann is aware that the City Council cannot make a simple, short-term decision on the Dieselweg question.

After all, it is a public road.

“We are grateful that the city council is even considering this,” he emphasizes.

If the committee gives its approval, "then we will be happy and will enable us to connect this large area to the plant".

If the city council rejects the request, “we will have to consider alternatives”.
