The head of the Energy Committee of the German Federal Parliament, Klaus Ernst, called on his country's government to negotiate with Russia on gas, saying that Germany should not suffer from its sanctions against Moscow.
“Eminent politicians in Germany’s ruling parties have joined my position that it is reasonable to negotiate with Russia about the reliability of gas supplies to us, and this would effectively lower prices and allow us not to suffer from our sanctions,” Ernst said in a statement.
Earlier, Ernst called for the return of negotiations with Russia over the (North Stream 2) gas pipeline, describing Western sanctions against it as wrong.
