Borussia Mönchengladbach has at least temporarily conquered the top of the table in the Bundesliga.
Coach Daniel Farke's team won at home against Hertha BSC 1-0 (1-0) at the start of the 3rd matchday on Friday evening and, with seven points, climbed past record champions Bayern Munich to first place.
Hertha, on the other hand, is still waiting for the first win of the new season and under coach Sandro Schwarz.
Mönchengladbach - Striker Alassane Plea, who prematurely extended his contract until 2025 at the beginning of August, scored a converted penalty to make it 1-0 (34th).
Previously, the Berlin defender Maximilian Mittelstädt had touched the ball with his hand after a cross from Jonas Hofmann in the penalty area.
Hofmann missed a second hand penalty (70th).
Hertha's Filip Uremovic, who caused the second penalty, was sent off with a second yellow card (69').
