District – Heavy continuous rain and thunderstorms have been announced for the district of Miesbach.

The lower civil protection authority warns.

The German weather service is forecasting rainfall of up to 100 liters per square meter for the district of Miesbach for Friday, August 19 to early Saturday, August 20.

"The dried-out soil may not be able to absorb the heavy rain that is expected in some places quickly enough," warns the Miesbach district office.

"Therefore, depending on the actual amount of precipitation, there could be local flooding, for example near hillsides."

Citizens are asked to take suitable precautionary measures to secure parts of the building such as cellars and gardens, for example unfixed objects there, and not to put themselves in danger in a storm.

"In addition, the lower civil protection authority asks that citizens pay attention to elderly, single people or people in need of support in their area and support them with a possible backup," it continues.

In life-threatening situations, you should immediately dial 112, but remember: the emergency number must remain free for real emergencies.

The lower civil protection authority recommends downloading the civil protection warning app "Nina" in order to be informed immediately about current warnings.

Current weather developments can also be read directly from the German Weather Service at www.dwd.de.

The official severe weather warning for extremely heavy continuous rain in the Miesbach district is currently valid until Saturday, 8 a.m.

"Extremely productive continuous rain of varying intensity occurs," explains the DWD.

“Amounts of precipitation between 80 and 140 liters per square meter are expected.

As a result of the constant rain, flooding of streams and smaller rivers as well as flooding of roads are possible.

According to the DWD, landslides can occur, for example.

All windows and doors should be kept closed.

According to current calculations by the Bavarian flood information service, the reporting levels for HND levels would not be exceeded in the Mangfall catchment area.

Depending on the precipitation in the Alpine catchment area, notification level 1 is expected to be exceeded at most for the Inn.

Current details are available at www.hnd.bayern.de.
